Instruction Manual

Consult our installation, maintenance and safety recommendations for all our weatherproof doors.

General information

Before placing any order, ensure that the equipment has the necessary characteristics for its intended use (operating pressure, contained product, application).

Feel free to contact us.

Usage Instructions

Handwheels must be tightened manually without tools.

Hydraulic tests are carried out with Natural Rubber gaskets, bonded into the cover at ambient temperature (20°C) and tightened to 60Nm.

The Shore hardness of certain Gaskets such as “Viton” requires stronger tightening to achieve perfect sealing.

When using such gaskets, we recommend manlids with external closure systems, or autoclave manlids.

With this type of gasket, it won’t be possible to operate at the same pressure level as with elastomer; the operating pressure must be divided by 3.

Warnings

Do not open the door while under pressure.

Modifying the doors or frame from their original state voids the warranty and the manufacturer's liability.

Two Types of Closures :

Autoclave

the door opens inwards. The seal is produced solely by the effect of the internal pressure contact

External

The tank door opens outwards. The seal is produced by the tightening of handwheels, screw-on handles or wing nuts.

Our manlids are supplied ready to weld, equipped with a frame.

Vertical or Horizontal

Vertical

Hinge on the long side of the door

Horizontal

Hinge on the short side of the door

Warnings

Do not open the door when it is under pressure.

Any modification of the door or frame from its original condition will void the warranty and the manufacturer's liability.

Certification

Under no circumstances may this equipment be used beyond its indicated maximum allowable pressure.

The doors marked CODAP in our catalog have been designed according to the calculations corresponding to the most demanding sizing case defined by CODAP 2005, namely Division I, category C, with a weld coefficient of z=0.7. This corresponds to the most unfavourable case (Bottling door, welded frame).
The sizing case allows the door to be used on Category I equipment or in accordance with §3.3 of the PED.
For applications requiring Category II, III, IV equipment under the PED, the sizing of the manlid remains compliant.

WARNING: certification cannot be provided retroactively.

Assembly advice

Before positioning the frame, always check the proper functioning of the opening/closing system, the fit of the

cover on the frame. Remove the cover, the locking system, and the gasket before proceeding to the welding. Check for any defects or deformation in the opening made in the tank where the manlid will be installed, as this could compromise overall stability.

Installation must be carried out by qualified personnel.

It is forbidden to modify the door or cut the frame.

Weld-on doors

Do not cut the door opening before receiving the door. The hole should be cut with minimal clearance.
When welding the frame, start with four diagonal points, then proceed in a circular and regular manner.
Continuously check positioning to avoid deformations that could affect sealing.

Manlid to be embedded in concrete

Doors, regardless of their shape, must always be sealed after tank construction and before applying the sealing coating.
Reserve the hole in the wall according to the flap raised from the outer edge of the frame.
Do not seal over cement coating.
The door must be installed only after spreading in the frame, which should be done 48 hours after sealing to avoid frame deformation.
The joint must not overflow onto the inner face of the frame to ensure perfect joint application.

These installation instructions are general in nature and are not exhaustive.

Maintenance

Like any manufactured part, manlids and their gaskets are subject to aging.

Perform maintenance every 3 months to check the wear condition of the contact surfaces between the cover and the frame, the proper functioning of the opening and the closing system, the wear of the gasket, and any superficial degradation caused by installation in particularly unfavourable environmental conditions.

All wear-prone parts (such as the threads of eyebolts, handwheels, handles etc...) must be cleaned and lubricated regularly.

Inspect the gaskets at each door opening, clean them, and replace them if necessary.

During long shutdown periods or when the tank is empty, it is essential that covers remain open to prevent gasket expansion, which could lead to deterioration and increase the risk of leakage.

Seal lifespan can be significantly reduced by environmental factors such as oxygen, ozone, low humidity, light, UV rays, solvents, or stressful storage conditions.

For optimal use, gaskets should be stored:

  • Flat, without tension or load
  • At room temperature
  • In a dry place, protected from light and UV rays
  • Not near from devices that produce ozone

Damaged gaskets must not be used.

For optimal cleaning, the gaskets should be cleaned with soapy water
